Winchester Poetry Festival is inviting poets to submit their best, unpublished poems to be in with a chance of winning £1000, to read at Winchester Poetry Day and to be published in a printed anthology.

The Writers' College Short Story Competition is designed to support beginner writers aged 16 and up from any country. They accept entries from writers who have never been published or who have been published fewer than four times in any genre, in any publication. Entrants can submit one story written in English of a maximum 2000 words on the theme, “The end of the line”. The free early bird entry ends on the 31st of May 2026. After 31 May, an £ 8 entry fee applies.
The Nova Short Story Competition is an annual competition for budding writers of science fiction and fantasy short stories. The competition is open for entry from April until 30 September annually. While entries can be either SF or F, the story must be intrinsically South African, with the human or physical environment having a direct influence on the plot, characters or outcome of the story.
