The writer and literary translator’s residence is open from May to October and is able to host a maximum of six writers per session. To be eligible writers and literary translators must be published (min. one book - self published not accepted), playwrights and scriptwriters must be published or produced.
The fellowship includes one month in residence at the Dora Maar House, a private bedroom and bath, and a study or studio in which to work, express paid for round-trip travel from a fellow’s home to the Dora Maar House, and a $1500 stipend. Here outstanding mid-career professionals are offered fellowships that enable them to reside in the Dora Maar House and focus on the creative aspects of their work.
The Studios at MASS MoCA artist and writers residency program is embedded in one of the world’s liveliest centers for making and enjoying today’s most evocative art. The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) is a former factory complex surrounded by the beautiful Berkshire Mountains in downtown North Adams. The Studios residency invites 10 artists at a time, nationally and internationally, for a residency of 2 or 4 weeks. These residencies provide essential time, space, and individualized support for artists to develop new work and ideas, with their campus being a living source of research and inspiration.
Emerging writers are invited to apply in one of three categories: novels, short stories, or poetry. Upon completion of this intensive development programme, the writer is assisted in submitting their manuscript for publication to an appropriate publisher.
