The Bedford Writing Competition
The Bedford Writing Competition is a nonprofit group that runs annual international short story and poetry competitions for anyone in the world over 17 years of age.
Short Story and Poetry Prizes:
- First Place: £2000
- Second Place: £300
- Third Place: £200
Short Stories:
Stories must not have been published, self-published, published on a website, broadcast, been placed first, second or third, or been awarded a prize in any other competition. Stories must be no more than 3000 words. Title not included in the word count. Stories must be written in English. All stories must have a title. Stories must be typed, double-spaced and in a readable, 12 point font.
Poems:
Poems must not have been published, self-published, published on a website, broadcast, been placed first, second or third, or been awarded a prize in any other competition. Poems must be no more than 40 lines. Title not included in the line count. Poems must be written in English. Poems must be typed, and in a readable, 12 point font.
Entry Fee: The standard entry fee is £8,50 per story or poem.
