The Amphibian Literary and Art Journal

1 August 2024

The Amphibian Journal

Submissions to The Amphibian Literary and Art Journal are open. The theme for the next issue is: Folklore.

“Folklore is the body of expressive culture shared by a particular group of people, culture or subculture. This includes oral traditions such as tales, myths, legends, proverbs, poems, jokes, and other oral traditions. This also includes material culture, such as traditional building styles common to the group. Folklore also encompasses customary lore, taking actions for folk beliefs, and the forms and rituals of celebrations such as Christmas, weddings, folk dances, and initiation rites.” – Wikipedia definition of Folklore

The Amphibian is doing a modernistic take on Folklore, although as always with rituals and stories they are rooted in the deep past and ancestral memory, highly personal and universal to the human experience.

If you are considering submitting, it’s always a good idea to buy an online or print copy of the magazine to familiarise yourself with what we’re looking for. You can purchase a copy from their shop.

Submit your poems, stories and flash fiction to info@theamphibianlit.com. The word count for story submissions are 2000 words max. Entrants are allowed to submit up to 3 poems. The Amphibian is flexible as to the length. A simple word doc and most fonts are fine.

Submission deadline: 1 August 2024
