
Open for entries from 1 November 2025 to 28 February 2026. The Edinburgh Novel Award is open to anyone over the age of 16 years, living anywhere in the world, published and unpublished.
They are looking for novels in all genres – literary, historic, crime, romance, contemporary, humour and more. This is a great opportunity for new as well as established writers. Entries should be suitable for adult audiences.
Initial submission will be 5 000 words plus 300 word synopsis. Expanded sections of novels will be requested from authors who are longlisted and shortlisted. At no stage are authors asked to submit a complete novel.
The Scottish Arts Trust has an experienced team of readers standing by to carefully review every submission. All longlisted works will be reviewed by the judges, Donals Winchester and Julie Fergusson.
