In 2022, she was selected to be part of the Jakes Gerwel Mentorship Programme for Upcoming Songwriters, where she was mentored by award-winning musicians and seasoned mentors Frazer Barry and Zolani Mahola (Freshly Ground). She also writes inspirational songs for the afro-pop genre as well as songs for theatre and television. During the mentorship programme, she wrote the song \u201cDiamonds\u201d which was a tribute to the Jakes Gerwel Foundation and was also selected as the theme song for the programme\u2019s music concert at Suidoosterfees. In 2023, Kele M wrote and released her debut single \u201cAwake\u201d, which was endorsed by the Arts &amp; Culture Trust. Her songwriting skills and music talent was recognised at the 2023 Basadi in Music Awards where she was nominated for the Newcomer of the Year Award for \u201cAwake\u201d. The Awards recognise and celebrate women who have made an exceptional contribution to the music industry.
