Welcome to The Bedford Competition, a nonprofit group, that runs an annual international short story and poetry competitions for anyone in the world over 17 years of age.
There are prizes totaling £4 600 and all winning and shortlisted stories and poems are published as an anthology.

Rules:
Short story: Stories must be no more than 3000 words. Title not included in the word count. Stories must be written in English. They must be typed, double-spaced and in a readable, 12 point font. The following are acceptable electronic file formats: .doc .docm .docx .dot .dotm .dotx .odt .txt.
Poetry: Poems must be no more than 40 lines. Title not included in the line count. Poems must be written in English. If a poem does not have a title, the first line will be used to identify the poem. Poems must be typed, and in a readable, 12 point font. The following are acceptable electronic file formats: .doc .docm .docx .dot .dotm .dotx .odt .txt.
Entries can be from anywhere in the world and open to anyone aged 17 years and over. Stories or poems must not have been published, self-published, published on a website, broadcast, been placed first, second or third, or been awarded a prize in any other competition.
Entry Fees:
The usual entry fee is £8,50 per story or poem. If three stories or poems are submitted on the same entry form then the fee will be £17,00 (a £8,50 saving). If you qualify as a full-time student then the fee is £6 per story or poem and if three stories or poems are submitted on the same entry form the fee will be £12. You can submit as many stories or poems as you like but please remember to take advantage of the ‘three for the price of two’ by ensuring that three stories or poems are submitted using one entry form.
